Noted for its maritime exhibits on the East India and China Trade, ship models and whaling exhibits.
The Essex Institute
A museum and research library containing many of the works of Nathaniel Bowditch and collections of the ship’s logs and artifacts.
The National Park Service Maritime Site
Located along the Salem waterfront. The area includes a visitor’s center, the Custom House and the recently completed Friendship, a 178’ replica of a Salem trading vessel tall ship.
Also visit The Salem Witch Museum, Witch House and the House of Seven Gables, or if you prefer you can relax at Pickering Wharf, an area with many shops and fine restaurants.
Marblehead, with its many yacht clubs and yachting facilities is easily accessible by boat or car, and Boston is only 20 minutes away.
